Pretty Cool

It's not much of a money maker, but still it's a different way to contribute to the world's problems without handing the power to governments or huge quasi-governments (World Bank, etc.). Long live the free market.

Makes Sense

01-24-08: well the "stimulus" package is about finished in the House. the compromise, in order for the democrats to drop their requirement for an increase of food stamps and extended unemployment benefits, they required a provision to allow tax rebates to go to people who don't pay taxes. sounds about fair. after i take a quick look at Brookings to see what kind of shenanigans the republicans pulled, i will go back to work so i can raise more money for this latest feel-good idea. election years, you gotta love-em. - self-centered b

Word of the Day

12-12-07: mer·i·toc·ra·cy
1 : a system in which the talented are chosen and moved ahead on the basis of their achievement
2 : leadership selected on the basis of intellectual criteria
Hillary Clinton - "The estate tax has been historically part of our very fundamental belief that we should have a meritocracy, that we do not want a system - where we expect people to make it on their own..."
why should we ever expect people to make it on their own. that just wouldn't be very nice. of course the post is really about the funny contradiction in her statement. -b

iGoogle

Up and running...

12-07-07: mostly almost there. css is dialed in. my java backend isn't there yet, but there is something fun about posting the old fashion'd way. now i just need to finish gimping. and the java. and the content. sooo, i guess just the invisible layout is done. seeing the beating rob takes, a commenting engine is not in the works at this time. -b
